Old Kent Carollers at the West End Tavern (13th and 20th December at 8.30pm)
Old Kent Carollers at the West End Tavern
Come and sing old fashioned Christmas carols at Marden from 8.30pm on two evenings before Christmas – on Sunday the 13th and Sunday the 20th.
This is an event for anyone who loves a good sing – but also for anyone interested in finding out something about what people used to sing at Christmas in this area in years gone by. We’re all used to hearing the same few carols each year – but actually there are many more around the country. Most of the ones we’ll be singing come from a book of local carols researched and edited by George Frampton, who used to live in the village.
This is not a choir, so there’s no need to learn the carols in advance unless you want to. So just come on the night and we’ll give you song sheet to sing from, and you’ll soon pick up the tunes.
The tunes and words of the carols we’ll be singing are posted at http://www.singdanceandplay.net/sing-old-kent-carols/
